Naast zijn werk bij JEL Products is Lucas vicevoorzitter van het Kernteam Outdoor van de NSVV, de Nederlandse Stichting voor Verlichtingskunde. In die rol vertaalt hij praktijkervaring naar technisch onderbouwde en maatschappelijk relevante richtlijnen, met focus op het verminderen van lichthinder, het verbeteren van veiligheid en het ontwikkelen van toekomstbestendige verlichting.
