Terminal Eemshaven required more than a standard lighting upgrade. The project involved the complete design and delivery of a large-scale terminal lighting system for a demanding operational environment used for offshore wind logistics and heavy-duty port activities.<\/p>\n<p>From the first lighting question onward, the project was approached as a complete engineered system. The final scope included lighting design, environmental light assessment, mast positioning, geotechnical investigation, foundation engineering, civil works, power infrastructure, installation and integration of the complete lighting system on site.<\/p>\n<p>The terminal needed reliable lighting for large outdoor working areas, while also taking into account the environmental sensitivity of the surrounding region. At the same time, the lighting system had to respect the environmental context of the Eemshaven area and the dark-sky sensitivity near the Wadden Sea.<\/p><p>This was not simply a matter of installing high-output floodlights. Mast positions, mounting heights, optical distribution, aiming angles, light spill, glare control, cable routing, power distribution and future maintenance access all had to be considered together.<\/p><p>A terminal lighting design can only perform well when the complete system is engineered around the real site conditions. The required lighting levels on the terminal had to be achieved without unnecessary light pollution or uncontrolled light distribution toward the surrounding environment.<\/p><p>That made the project technically demanding. To create a reliable and workable solution, the project could not be limited to luminaires alone.<\/p><p>The full installation required a complete chain of work: site investigation, foundation concept, deep driven support structures, trenching for power cables, reinstatement of paved areas, connection to main distribution equipment, assembly of 50 metre lighting masts, installation of the luminaires and technical integration on site.<\/p><p>The project also included pre-wiring for camera systems, allowing the lighting mast infrastructure to support more than only illumination. This made the masts part of a broader terminal infrastructure concept.<\/p><p>This approach reduced fragmentation between design, supply and installation. terminal lighting concept around the operational reality of the site. The design process considered the required lighting performance on the terminal, the site layout, mast positions, foundation requirements, cable routing, environmental restrictions and long-term maintenance conditions.<\/p><p>The environmental lighting design was an important part of the project. Because of the terminal\u2019s location near the Wadden Sea area, the lighting concept had to control unnecessary light spill and avoid irresponsible upward light. This required careful selection of optics, aiming angles and mast positions.<\/p><p>The mast infrastructure was also a key part of the engineering. The 50 metre lighting masts required a foundation concept suitable for the local ground conditions. This included geotechnical investigation and foundation work with 12 metre deep driven foundation piles.<\/p><p>The final solution was therefore not based on luminaires alone. It was a complete terminal lighting system where civil engineering, electrical infrastructure, mast construction, environmental design and industrial LED lighting had to work The final solution included the supply and installation of the masts, foundations, electrical infrastructure, luminaires and supporting works required to bring the full design into operation.<\/p>\n<p>The result was a complete terminal lighting installation designed around operational performance, environmental control and long-term serviceability.<\/p>\n<p>The lighting system supports terminal operations with high-mounted industrial LED luminaires, engineered mast positions and controlled light distribution. The use of 50 metre lighting masts allows large working areas to be illuminated from fewer elevated positions, reducing unnecessary obstruction on the terminal and supporting a clean operational layout.<\/p>\n<p>The project also reduced technical fragmentation. The lighting had to be projected effectively onto the operational areas of the terminal without creating unnecessary glare or uncontrolled spill light.<\/p><p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/jelproducts.nl\/dcbright-darklicht\/\">DarkLicht<\/a> luminaires were used as part of a complete system design.
