Light for the world's toughest environments.
JEL Products designs, produces, and delivers high-quality LED lighting systems for heavy industry, ports, terminals, and other critical applications where reliability is essential. From extreme temperatures and corrosive environments to high mast and crane installations, our systems are developed in the Netherlands and deployed worldwide.
With projects on multiple continents, we support our clients from initial lighting design and simulation through installation and long-term performance in practice. Our focus is clear: sustainable solutions, predictable performance, and lighting that works when it counts.

For BUSS Terminal, we realized a complete lighting system for a large-scale transshipment site. The project included engineering, infrastructure and installation of high masts up to 50 meters. The installation was realized for 24/7 operations in a demanding port environment with a focus on reliability and light quality. From design to realization, we delivered a fully integrated solution.
Port & Terminal
High-mast lighting
Eemshaven, NL
For DFDS, we modernized the terminal lighting in two phases, with first a new installation in 2021 and later a full LED upgrade in 2023. The installation at the terminal was deployed to reduce energy consumption and improve visibility and safety on site. The project required phased implementation by expanding the terminal without disrupting operational terminal operations. The result is a future-proof lighting installation for continuous operation.

Floodlight retrofit
Vlaardingen, NL
As a long-term partner of Van der Spek, we provide robust lighting solutions for tower cranes on a variety of construction projects. The systems are designed for optimal work lighting at heights with minimal glare and maximum reliability, in addition to simplifying transport, storage, and assembly. Our lighting supports safe and efficient work under demanding conditions. This collaboration underscores our leading position in crane lighting.
Tower cranes
Conversion of lighting for tower crane fleet

For Mammoet, we designed lighting for one of the world's heaviest ring cranes, used under extreme conditions. The installation had to withstand vibration, wind load, and low temperatures. Furthermore, work lighting for this heavy lifting operation was crucial. Precision, reliability, and safety are central to these projects. Through good design, shadow and glare could be prevented at a height of 160 meters.
Heavy lifting
Faucet light
Schiedam, Netherlands
During the construction of the Jeddah Superdome, we provided lighting from four heavy crawler cranes. For this large-scale international project, the installation had to deliver reliable operation under high temperatures and intensive construction conditions. Good work lighting was essential for the safe progress of the project. Our systems supported the construction phase with consistent lighting performance.

For P&O Ferries, we upgraded the entire grounds lighting system at the ferry terminal in Europoort. A previous LED installation using sports-style fixtures did not meet the port’s requirements, so JEL designed and delivered a new solution tailored to the environment, featuring highly directional DarkLicht fixtures mounted on 30 new mast structures. Thanks to better beam control and reduced light spill, more usable light was provided on the grounds, with approximately 66% less energy consumption. The entire project, including the mast structures, was completed in just two weeks at a terminal that remained fully operational throughout.

Highmast retrofit
Europoort, NL
For the MORE 1 & 2 construction sites in Leiden, we upgraded the tower crane lighting in collaboration with Ballast Nedam Materieel and Heddes. By installing smaller DarkLicht LED fixtures in the cranes, we were able to mount four fixtures instead of three, carefully positioned so that the light shines only on the construction site. As a result, nearby residents, the surrounding area, and nature experience significantly less disruption, while energy consumption decreased by 73%. Thanks to this approach, the construction site was named the Best-Performing Construction Site in the Netherlands.
Construction & Infrastructure
Construction site lighting (tower cranes)
Leiden, Netherlands
For mining applications, we supplied robust full-cutoff lighting for heavy machinery in extreme environments. The systems are designed to limit glare and maximize visibility in dusty and vibration-sensitive conditions. Reliability and durability are crucial in continuous mining operations. Our lighting supports safe and efficient deployment of the heaviest equipment.
From shovels and haul trucks to the largest excavators like the Liebherr 9600.

For Van Gelder’s new asphalt plant in Nijkerk—the most sustainable in Europe—we designed equally sustainable site lighting. Using full-cutoff DarkLicht fixtures and low-profile site poles, the light is directed exclusively onto the work area, with no upward glare and virtually no light spill into the surrounding area. The entire surrounding area was modeled in 3D to preserve the bat flight paths along the canal. This ensures sufficient and safe working light, with minimal energy consumption and minimal impact on nature.

Full-cutoff terrain lighting
Nijkerk, Netherlands
For Klompé, we realized a retrofit of full-cutoff lighting on their asphalt pavers within infrastructure projects. The installation minimizes glare and improves visibility on the work surface during nighttime operations. The solution contributes to safer working and better control over the illuminated zone. Our full-cutoff systems are specifically developed for precision work in harsh conditions.

In the industrial production environments of Rockwool in Croatia, where increased temperatures plagued the lifespan of electronics, we delivered a heat-resistant LED lighting solution. The systems operate long-term under heavy thermal loads of up to 120 degrees Celsius, where even the most resistant lighting often fails. Reliability and lifespan are essential in continuous production processes. Our solutions enable sustainable LED lighting in extreme industrial conditions.

For the crane vessel Bokalift 2, we supplied robust marine-grade work lighting for offshore heavy lift operations. The installation on deck and in the crane has been upgraded from the existing LED lighting. The lighting used is designed for corrosive marine environments and continuous use under heavy loads. Reliable lighting is essential for safe and accurate operations on board. Our systems deliver stable performance in maritime conditions.
