Home " High-Temperature LED lighting for Steel Mills, Infrared-proof
Steel plants operate in extremely demanding environments with high temperatures, intense infrared radiation, dust, vibration and heavy machinery. These factors can significantly reduce the performance and lifetime of conventional and even standard LED lighting. This leads to reduced visibility, increased maintenance costs and potential safety risks.
JEL Products understands these challenges and offers specialised LED lighting solutions that perform reliably in the most extreme conditions within the steel industry. With a design life of 15 years and robust construction, our luminaires, such as the Orca and Barracuda floodlights, ideal for use in steelworks.
Our luminaires, the 'OR156' Orca and 'BA48' Barracuda high-temperature floodlights, are specially designed to operate in the extreme temperatures and exposure to infrared radiation typical of steel mills. With a temperature resistance of up to +120ºC our luminaires continue to perform reliably where conventional lighting fails. This means less downtime and continuous, consistent lighting of your production facilities.
Steel production involves significant amounts of dust and strong vibrations from heavy machinery. Our fittings meet the highest IP ratings (IP66/IP67/IP69K) and possess a IK09 impact resistance, meaning they have excellent protection against penetration of dust and mechanical impact. The robust housing prevents dust particles from entering the luminaire, thus preserving performance and service life.
With a design life of 15 years (based on a lifetime of 100,000 hours with 70% light maintenance), our lighting solutions offer a sustainable investment. This results in less frequent replacements, lower maintenance costs and minimal downtime of your production processes. The consistent light output over the luminaire's lifetime ensures a stable and safe working environment.
Our LED luminaires are extremely energy-efficient, with a lumen per watt efficiency like no other in the market: up to 230 lm/W. This leads to significant energy savings compared to conventional lighting. Lower energy costs directly contribute to reducing your operational expenses and help reduce your carbon footprint.
Good lighting is crucial for workplace safety and efficiency. Our luminaires deliver bright, consistent lighting that helps identify potential hazards and improve accuracy of operations. This is especially important in the steel industry, where machinery can be complex and potentially dangerous.
Thanks to the thoughtful design of the 'OR156' Orca and 'BA48' Barracuda floodlights, our luminaires can be easily installed even in challenging spaces within steel mills. Our customised driver boxes and cabinets are designed to integrate seamlessly with your existing infrastructure, improving installation conveniences and minimising downtime.
Our luminaires very robust floodlights can also direct the light image to a targeted location using our high-temperature lenses which are specially designed for use in extreme environments. These lenses can withstand high temperatures, making them ideal for applications requiring long-distance illumination.
Our team of experts is ready to advise you on the best lens options for your specific needs. By taking into account factors such as installation height, distance to the area to be illuminated and environmental conditions, we can provide a customised solution that is both effective and durable.
We invite both steel mills and installers to collaborate with JEL Products. Our extensive experience and turnkey solutions make implementation easy and efficient. Whether you work directly with the plant or are responsible for maintenance, we are ready to support you with expertise and high-quality products.
We understand that installing driver components in steel mills can be challenging due to high temperatures and limited space. That is why we offer customised driver boxes and driver enclosures that provide power and control to luminaires safely and reliably. Our driver boxes are designed to operate in the harshest conditions of the steel industry, including exposure to infrared radiation and electromagnetic interference.

Yes, our luminaires are specifically designed to operate at high temperatures up to +120ºC and are resistant to intense infrared radiation. The Orca and Barracuda series use special materials and advanced thermal technologies to ensure optimal performance.
Our luminaires are designed for easy installation and require no special procedures. We offer support and advice to ensure a smooth installation. If required, we or one of our global partners can carry out the installation for you thanks to our VCA**-certification.
Absolutely. We understand the importance of testing products in your specific environment. We offer the opportunity to test our products so that you can evaluate their performance and suitability for your application.
Our luminaires are designed to perform consistently in temperature fluctuations between -45°C and +120ºC. They are also resistant to strong vibrations and mechanical impact, ideal for environments with heavy machinery.
Thanks to high-quality materials and advanced cooling technologies, our LEDs have an expected lifetime of 100,000 hours (L70B10), even under constant exposure to extremely high temperatures and infrared radiation.
Our luminaires have the highest IP ratings (both IP66/IP67/IP69K), meaning they have excellent protection against dust and water. This makes them ideal for dusty and dirty conditions within steel mills.
We offer as standard 5-year warranty on all our high-temperature products, including floodlights. To maximise the life of your installation, we recommend following the advice of our experts regarding placement and maintenance of both the lamp and driver.
