Calculate in one minute how much your terminal or site saves by switching to JEL DarkLicht LED lighting: in energy, costs, and CO₂.
You enter a few details about the current situation, and we estimate the rest based on your location. All amounts are excluding VAT; no rights can be derived from the indication.

Area lighting is typically the energy-saving measure at a terminal that pays for itself the fastest.
Enter the current details: the number of fixtures, the type of lighting, the power consumption per fixture, and your electricity rate. You’ll immediately see the savings in kilowatt-hours, euros, and CO₂, along with the corresponding payback period.
Calculate in just one minute how much your facility or site can save by switching to JEL DarkLicht LED lighting,in energy, costs, and CO₂. All amounts are exclusive of VAT.
Including the Indicative Investment & Price Quotation, the complete Year-on-year breakdown over 25 years, the legal basis (Energy Saving Obligation / ISO 50001 / CSRD) and tailor-made advice, straight to your inbox.
A calculator is only as reliable as its assumptions. That’s why they’re listed here on this page, and not just in the fine print. The difference in power consumption isn’t just due to the lighting technology: with a full cut-off light fixture, no light is lost outside the target area, so less power is needed to achieve the same light level on the floor.
The calculation is intentionally conservative. Maintenance, lamp replacement, and aerial lift costs are not included, nor are subsidies, EIA, and rising energy prices. In practice, this shortens the payback period. In DFDS Vlaardingen, 53 percent of energy consumption was eliminated with a better-lit terminal; at P&O Ferries in Europoort, the figure was approximately 66 percent.
A genuine justification requires a lighting calculation: number of light fixtures, locations, cut-off position, and illuminance on the floor. We provide these free of charge, even if you use the plan elsewhere. See also the grant program guidance, because the EIA and the energy-saving requirement are changing the picture.

Benchmark values from completed projects; per site, they deviate based on mounting height, pole spacing, and the required light level. This table follows the values in the calculation block and will be updated if those change. No rights can be derived from the displayed values.
Energy-saving measures with a payback period of less than five years fall under the statutory energy-saving obligation. LED lighting is on the Erkende Maatregelenlijst, and area lighting is generally the measure within that category that yields a return the fastest.
If your result comes out under five years, the full report is more than a price indication: it substantiates the measure for your energy-saving obligation, your ISO 50001 file, a CSRD report, or an energy audit.
We will guide it subsidy process and provide the lighting calculation that belongs with the application. See also area lighting and DarkLicht full cut-off floodlights.
Measures that pay for themselves within five years are mandatory to implement. LED lighting is on the Erkende Maatregelenlijst.
The report provides the calculations and assumptions requested during an audit.
The kWh saved and the corresponding CO₂ reduction can be traced back to the data entered.
Not included in the calculation; we guide you through the process and provide the lighting calculation required for the application.
Would you like to know how quickly an investment in LED lighting will pay for itself? Just enter a few details about your current situation, and you’ll immediately see how much you’ll save on energy, costs, and CO₂.
The period during which the savings on your energy costs equal the initial investment. The shorter that period, the faster the switch will pay off. According to the Netherlands Enterprise Agency Lighting is one of the fastest ways to save energy in commercial buildings.
Based on your actual operating hours and local hours of darkness, so the results reflect your specific situation. In addition to the payback period, you’ll see the cumulative savings over 5, 10, and 25 years, the annual cost savings, and the CO₂ reduction.
Are you trying to decide between different scenarios? Adjust the input values and instantly compare the payback period for more or fewer light fixtures, a different electricity rate, or varying operating hours.
Is your question not listed here, or would you like to have the result verified? An engineer will respond within 1 business day.
The payback period varies by situation, but thanks to lower energy consumption and a long lifespan, an investment in LED lighting often pays for itself within a few years. With the calculator you can calculate the period for your own project; the outcome depends mainly on the operating hours, the electricity price, and the wattage you currently have per position.
You need the number of lighting fixtures, the type of current lighting, the wattage per lighting fixture, the operating hours per year, and your electricity price. The calculator automatically estimates the remaining values based on your location.
Yes, the calculator is completely free to use and comes with no obligations. If you'd like personalized advice, feel free to request a quote with no obligation.
We calculate conservatively: without maintenance savings, without subsidies or EIA, without energy price increases, and without degradation of the existing installation. On terminals where the aerial lift and lamp replacement are eliminated, the actual payback period will be shorter than the indication here.
Calculation based on the data entered and JEL standard values; all amounts exclude VAT. No rights may be derived from this estimate. Investment amounts are indicative and will be confirmed in a customized quote.

You will receive a response from the person who is also preparing your lighting calculation.
Please send us the surface area, the mast height, and a floor plan or aerial photo. We’ll calculate the lighting requirements for the site, including the number of fixtures, their positions, the cut-off angle, and the lux level on the floor, and compare the energy consumption with that of your current system.
